The Patina Machina

This is my '67 C10 better known as the "Patina Machina". All original New Mexico truck, straight 6, 3 on the tree. Plans: 5.3 swap, bagged, NOT painting it, and I'm sure a few more things.........Finally was able to take a day from work to start the tear-down process today.

The day I picked it up......

Added some 22" GM transit wheels.....

How the day started today.....

The teardown......

The way the day ended......

Re: The Patina Machina

Nice looking truck. Good to see you start a build thread for it. Am I seeing remnants of grey primer on your truck? If so, do you plan on trying to remove it to get back to completely original paint? I bet that would come off pretty easily with the common CLR approach and a little scrubbing.

Thank you sir! Haven't thought about removing the grey. Maybe I'll try it on a spot and see what it does.

Probably the 4L60E. Not doing high HP, but most likely a cam for sure.

Re: The Patina Machina

What thickness spacers did you have to run on front and rear to get the wheels to fit and sit right?

There were 1/4" spacers up front to clear the little bump on the front drums, however, I did the disc brake upgrade today and they fit perfect now.

As far as the back, the stepside is a bit finicky for room and for now there are 1 1/4" spacers on the rear. Now with the bags being done, I have a feeling I'm going to need to remove the spacers. I'll see when I get the bed back on.

Re: The Patina Machina

Running out of daylight, but here is today's progress.....

Engine came out....

Ready to tear into this......

Crossmember vs. dropmember comparison.....

All in....

Damn crossmembers keeping me off the ground. Transmission one will get swapped tomorrow. Have to get the cab off to get the trailing arm one swapped out.

So close......

Re: The Patina Machina

Looks great layin' on the ground! You got those transits tucking just right given all the backspace they have.
