Not bought, just found. I think it's really cool!
https://austin.craigslist.org/cto/6070283257.html Same seller has this one: https://austin.craigslist.org/cto/6070315945.html I don't know if we need a thread to post finds, but this could be one if we did

Like this? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=693849
Or did you mean one just for the 4x4 forum? There's something special about old cabovers....

Re: Look What I Found
Local junkyard had a couple of those. Not dumps but cab overs. One of the few jeeps I like.

Re: Look What I Found
Aren't these cool? Yeah Mike, I meant 4wds for here. I always wanted an FC pickup. They were unique and a great idea for a pickup that can go where no other can. No hood to look over as you top a climb, get right up on stuff with your own eyes, and for whatever length bed you have you have a way shorter wheelbase. Not to mention a spacious cab considering the era and the overall size of the truck. Sure is spacious compared to the Willys Wagons and pickups. I like the Little Willys pickup cabs, too. I'm a truck guy through and through, but hot rods were my first love and I see having one of those as satisfying both loves...if I could only have one.
My family has a mountain top farm (just land now) in the NW tip of Maryland and I've always dreamed of keeping a mountain goat up there for getting firewood and chores on the place, running into town, and of course general boppin' around the countryside. This what I had planned for the '71 C/30 Napco I had. I decided to retire it due to a shot cab, so I sold the utility bed and took it to a lcal guy who builds/repurposes used commercial trucks...stretch/shorten frames, swap bodies/beds around, tractor out of dump, garbage out of box van, old horse vans onto new truck, etc. I had swapped off some work on his house when he mounted/painted the utility bed. So, I sold it and he pulled it when I sold it. I had overhauled the whole drivetrain on that and the plan was put another can on and have this guy (who is also an auctioneer) locate a single wheel contractor dump w/hist for it. If you've ever seen one, they are no wider than the cab with short sides. That was the plan till it disappeared from his shop!

We saw one of those Jeeps on the Hot Rod Power Tour last year! Done very well and very cool to look at! It is definitely MY favorite of all Jeeps!

Re: Look What I Found
My dad had a fleet of the cab overs, we used to snow plow with them many years ago. Recently saw one at a Milwaukee car show and one in Detroit on Woodward during the 2016 Dream Cruise. Lots of fun and memories (except underneath fixing them with the salty snow dripping in your face, lol).

Re: Look What I Found
We have a FC 170 in the shop being restified. Cab and box just came back from the strippers and there is a complete power train upgrade from Novac sitting next to it. If there is interest and the owner is OK with it I can run a thread in the Alternative section. I have loved these since I was 7 or 8 years old. No matter how hard I tried. I was never able to talk my dad into buying one.

Re: Look What I Found
One of my techs used to have a FC Jeep when he worked for the town of Vail. Loved it. Crawled like mad. Main downfall was downhill descending. Very nose heavy to say the least. Go to steep and it wanted to nose over. He indicated sometimes he ended up turning around and backing it down a hill to keep the truck from tipping forward.

Re: Look What I Found
Hilarious. Talk about a good selling feature. "The other brand makes a great clown vehicle, just watch..." Ha Ha Ha!!
More FC pictures I have saved: EDIT:I found a video, but it's Corvair 95 vs Econoline Pickup. Yeah, there's a counterweight in those. I guess it was the A100 that had the 300# counterweight https://youtu.be/HrhCAiV7diY?t=225

Re: Look What I Found
You're killing me with these things, and last weekend I saw one not too far from me, I'm controlling myself to stay away. Just got to tell myself be happy with what you... be happy with what you have.

Re: Look What I Found
I always wanted one, too. My dad had a '53 VW Bus around 1960. He bought a brand new '63 Panel and put camper windows, outfitted his own camper inside. Then he went to Land Rovers. I ended up getting a '66 in '76, outfitted my own camper, and headed cross-country. He always wanted a double cab VW pickup and I thought those were cool. I got into 4wds after that and these FCs fit both fancies. A cabover truck is a great idea.
I wonder if this could ever happen?

Re: Look What I Found
So cool. That one you have in your shop will be quite a machine. I hope you come back with more pictures. Is that one a shorty? We had a red & white one at the local chapter ATHS show last Sunday, but wasn't taking pictures.

Re: Look What I Found
No it is a long bed. We just got the body and chassis back from the blasters. Everything came back looking far better than expected. Only one rust through on the cab!
