Removing turn signal switch

I recently picked up an auto steering column and I'm in the process of cleaning it up. I was wanting to remove the turn signal switch assembly, but the hazard switch is making it just a bit difficult...

From what I can tell you can't remove the hazard switch, so how do you get it out (the assembly) without breaking it (hazard switch)?

thanks!

Disconnect battery first!. Then push in button to gain clearance. It's tight but will wiggle out with it pushed in.

On my 72 tilt column, the hazard switch knob unscrews from the turn signal assembly just like it was a regular screw.
