66' GMC Leaf Spring Bushings Help
Hey yall,
So finishing up getting my flip kit on my 66, and I need to change the bushings on the leaf springs and shackles. So I believe I found the bushings for the shackles, and the side of the leaf spring that goes into the shackle. those being a .570 X 1.125 X 2.75. My problem is finding the front leaf spring bushings that are bigger. I believe they are a 1.25 outer diameter bushing but struggling to find right bushing. hopefully someone can help me! Thanks in advance! |

Re: 66' GMC Leaf Spring Bushings Help
There is a local spring shop that I bring this kind of stuff to. I found out about them after ordering bushings for a Mustang and need them installed.
Maybe you have local spring shop? |

Re: 66' GMC Leaf Spring Bushings Help
GMC's had leaf springs with 2wd as i thank is what you have. Take a pic of the front of the leaf and the rear and post up. Might be the same as the 4wd ones as ron said.

Re: 66' GMC Leaf Spring Bushings Help
Since the OP stated he is "So finishing up getting my flip kit on my 66" I am pretty sure he has a 2wd and is looking for the front bushings on the rear springs.

Re: 66' GMC Leaf Spring Bushings Help
My fault yall, got swamped at work and all. I bought some 1 1/8 bushings and they fit the rear of the leaf spring and the shackle and weren't that bad to get in. We then realized that the front ones are bigger, so doing some research found that 1 1/4 may fit so I bought some, they didn't fit. haha so im gonna stop by a leaf spring place today on lunch break and see what they got to say. seems like I need a 1.1875-1.12 OD bushing for the front.
And yall were right with saying its a 2WD, thanks again and sorry for the late reply |

Re: 66' GMC Leaf Spring Bushings Help
Just got done talking to the spring shop, they told me that the front and back should be the same, and have the same size bushing. the front of my springs had become bigger and unrolled some. I just assumed the front were bigger since PO had bigger bushings in the front, so im guessing he just found something and made it work. But either way, itll be done today, and rearend will be back together this weekend!

Re: 66' GMC Leaf Spring Bushings Help
I don't think so, unless he has to re roll them to make it work. I had already put the new front bushings in, and they seem to be fine. but I told him to do whatever he needed to make em right so we shall see

Re: 66' GMC Leaf Spring Bushings Help
Got the flip kit from DJM Suspension; and it's a very good kit. All bolt on and painted, instructions are slim but not hard to figure out. We are going to figure out shocks next, and same for angle. We have to get bed on and then measure drive shaft to cut and all that. But I will definitely let you know what we end up doing!
