72 Cheyenne Long Bed low miles
Dad found this truck on facebook marketplace and wanted me to go check it out with him. Turns out the original owner's son was selling it. Has the usual rocker and door bottom rust, but that's it, the bed only has a couple of small dings in the floor. 32k original miles!
Plans are to fix any body issues, repaint white original color, black interior, just make it a nice driver/cruiser. |

Trying to decide whether to find someone to restore the cluster or swap in a new unit with a tach.

Engine was recently gone through, didn't even need the cylinders bored. It has a big cam (specs unknown) edelbrock intake and carb, chrome stuff everywhere, pretty nice accessory setup. I need to either find AC lines or have some made up.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Long Bed low miles
Luckily for Dad, I own an auto repair shop and there is a body shop across the street.
Should be a fun project. He had a 71 Cheyenne that was yellow and white, cab markers, big mirrors, when I was a kid so it's kind of a take us back build. |

The first thing we did was pull the 90's stereo out and remove the dash pad, cluster, glove box, and center vent. We also pulled the door panels and speakers. I have to fix or replace the passenger regulator since it doesn't want to roll down without a fight.

Nice find
Other than the areas with rust how is the rest of the paint? Can it be buffed back to life or is in in bad shape. Just thinking you may be able to get away with new paint in only those small areas and save most of the original paint. You have a lot of hard choices as that's a hell of a survivor truck you found |

Re: 72 Cheyenne Long Bed low miles
Thanks, it had a paint job in the 90s so no original paint. We're going to make it a nice truck since it is such a straight truck. Maybe like a restomod, but light on the mods.

Been wanting to go to first Friday for years and haven't got there yet. Maybe we can get it up there when it's finished.

I'm very wary of engines that have been "Rebuilt" or "gone Through"
Hope yours is a good one. Would be nice to find out what that cam is....It may not be what you need... |
