Re: 1972 3/4 4wd leave stock or lift?

I'm staying with stock height on mine. Here's an old pic of what the truck looked like on day 1 with 16.5" aluminum wheels and OEM heavy duty springs. The cab had a lot of sag from the worn mounts. I've got 33" BFG's on 16.5" steelies for it now - the larger diameter tires should boost the height a bit over these pics. I'll know in a few months!

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I am looking at 285/75/16 tires and found this while searching. What did you do to your springs? Did you have the re-arched at 1.5 above stock? I want my truck slightly higher than stock and yours looks perfect. Also, are those 8 inch wide wheels?

Love your truck!

I am referring to the green truck in post 18, I don't know how to re-attach the picture

4" on 285/75/16 BFG's. I use it as a truck as often as I need one and it is fine. Get some Bilstein 5100 shocks and the ride will be fine. Bed height is a little high but bearable.

Awesome, thank you for the info. I am calling my local spring shop to see if they can handle that.

Re: 1972 3/4 4wd leave stock or lift?

Here is my truck with a 2" tuff country lift and 285-75-16 tires. I had 35's with 10in wide wheels on it and with a 2in lift they hit the fenders on a tight turn.

Wow, Awesome truck. I was thinking about an 8 inch wide wheel but I love that 10 inch on yours

The K20 truck has 8in wide wheels in the pictures with 33's. This is the 10in wide 35's with the same 2in lift.

Re: 1972 3/4 4wd leave stock or lift?

Stock is nice, but in your case the rear springs especially look a bit bagged out and if you lift the rear only to level it the front will drop down a bit, you know the fulcrum principal. Lift it what you think looks good for what you will use it for. I would lift it 4" and then you have a bit of extra tire room for a taller tire for diff clearance and better new springs to take a load when hauling anything. Remember the old springs are "old".

Re: 1972 3/4 4wd leave stock or lift?

Guys,
I know this thread is older than dirt, but can anyone tell me know tall your K20 with 4" lift and 35's is? Mine came with a lift (I think) from the previous owner and don't know what size, anyway, I want to lift mine but still fit in the garage. Also does your's rub with the above tire size and lift, I've found conflicting answers.
