Spicer insert question

I don't have one to look at so ... In the lockout dial there is a little insert that says Spicer and has a little arrow on it. Are the 3/4 and half ton the same insert? Or is the half ton smaller?

Smile Re: Spicer insert question

if i remember correctly the spicer letters were molded into the plastic not an insert like the 3/4 ton.
i'm old and haven't owned a 1/2 ton for years so i might be full of $hit.

Re: Spicer insert question

Lol, good honest answer Jerry 😉

But you are correct, only the 3/4 tons had inserts.

Re: Spicer insert question

Ill just add to this thread and see if I get any answers. I finally got the blue dials out of my spare 3/4 ton hubs, what a pain that was.

I'm trying to put together the nicest set for my truck. My little Spicer inserts are just ok. I'm trying to figure out what the original color is on the lettering. I have two that look more gold-ish and two that look more silver-ish. I know its a fading problem ... what the heck color were they originally?
