Brake drum adjustment
Hi Everyone,
Even though my truck is a '62 the drum brake adjustment should be the same as the '67s-70 trucks right?  If so what should be the propper brake adjustment (star turns)?TIA, David

Should be the same. Adjust the brakes to where the pads are barely rubbing the drum.

I just usually get them close to the drum, and then use the adjusters to do the rest automatically.
Just roll the truck in reverse(slowly). and hit the pedal, to get the brakes to grab the drum, and it in turn muves the lever onto the adjuster, do this a few times, and the will be set perfectly every time. Evrey time you hit the brakes in reverse, it will tighten up the adjuster, but only when there is enough room for the brake shoes to move.

I just did my drums over the weekend and am wondering if it is normal for the drums to slightly contact the brake shoes after the auto adjust is done. With tires off the ground, when i spin the wheels there is just a hint of the shoes contacting the drum at one spot on each wheel. Is this anything to be concerned with? Thought it might be relavent to "Chevyboy"s question also.

By the way, I did mine just as WB72 stated and it worked just fine.......other than the small bit of rubbing of the new shoes.
