**Big Block Engine Mounts**
Changing the small block in my 69 flatbed over to a 454. Have a set of 72 frame stands but not the clams. I know there is a difference in the clam shell height. Anybody have clam shells they want to sell (or the set). OR, if I could get a measurement from the face where they bolt to the block to the center of the hole, maybe I can make some later ones work.

You might check with Wes at Classic Heartbeat Pickup Parts in Washington State.

Re: **Big Block Engine Mounts**
I have never checked the height but have seen claims here on the forum that newer ones are the same as big block, hopefully someone has your answer. I have a big block truck on the lift I could try getting a picture with a ruler next to it

Re: **Big Block Engine Mounts**
Measured as in picture, the clamshell is from a square body small block, measurement is about 2.1
I cant get a pic of the big block but it measures about 2.3 |

Re: **Big Block Engine Mounts**
I've got a couple different sets here and they measure from 2-3/8'' up to 2-3/4. Pictures I've seen here give me the impression that the 72s fit pretty tight like the 2.1 you mentioned. I'd like to find out and I'm sure the info would be nice to have on the website

Re: **Big Block Engine Mounts**
I think yours at 2.4 are correct because that's what's in my 72 big block truck.

Re: **Big Block Engine Mounts**
I will try to get a picture, the bottom where the one in the pic mounts pokes out towards the block between the holes, the one on my big block doesn't look like it does that

Re: **Big Block Engine Mounts**
Here is another thread
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ht=clam+shells Mine in the 72 big block truck do have the part number on the drivers side, can't see the pass because it's greasy. Part number shown in his thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=649056 |

Re: **Big Block Engine Mounts**
So.....looking through all the information and what I have here, I'm wondering if the stamping on the mount itself has any significance. For instance, one of the links shows the 72s and there is a stamping on the surface that bolts to the block.........looks like a smiley face. Some of the clams I have, have a triangle both stamped and raised. Another set has the smiley face but it is stamped the opposite direction from the picture showing the 72s.

Re: **Big Block Engine Mounts**
Those pics are great, can you try to get a measurement from the upper block mount holes to the edge of the same hole?
Maybe trace a straight line on the table, line up the upper holes on that line and them use a square to find the edge of of the through bolt hole |

Re: **Big Block Engine Mounts**
Thanks for the Pictures and measurements. Looking at that I could use what I have sitting here by those measurements. I don't think it's going to push the fan too far up into the shroud and the manifolds should clear the stands
