Ram Horn down pipe flange stud length info?
Hi, I went to put in my ram horn down pipe flange studs and saw that there were two different length of studs. 3 long and 3 short. Do you know the right position of the long and short studs in the down pipe flange?
Thanks. |

the long studs go on the passenger side. The heat riser valve is sandwiched between the manifold & the head pipe, it requires longer studs.

Not using heat riser. So I should get 3 more short studs?

Yes, IIRC, the flange on the pass. side manifold is flat. It does not have the bevel on the inside for the donut. they do make a donut that fits the flat flange, don't know the particulars on it, some body here might chime in.

Re: Ram Horn down pipe flange stud length info?
If you purchased the Dorman aftermarket Rams horn manifolds, they (as well as some of the others) have the recess for the donut.
The Rams horn manifolds can be swapped to the opposite side as long as you don;t have the version with a bracket cast into it or the ones with a directional sweep at the bottom. We purchased the Dorman manifolds for both sides (same P/N) and have eliminated the heat riser as well. Use the donut in both sides. In our case it is on a 4WD so both manifolds blow straight down (not the rear sweep) Use the short studs on both sides. Use BRASS nuts on the studs and double nut them.

You have a problem at dong that with the 1967-72 chevy truck them exhaust manifolds have a bend in them the 1960--66 you can do that but the ones with the bend No room for the pipe going tords the radiator LOL Like to see it done.make me a be leaver.I have tryed to use the 1960--66 the cross member gets in the way.Plus I have no idea how you will ever get the exhaust pipe out unless you life the motor up and remember the brake lines are there so is the fuel line instant bomb or fire
