rear hatch glass un/install

I poked around to find how people uninstalled and installed the rear hatch glass. Found a lot for install but not for uninstall. I'm just guessing using a box cutter on the gasket is the uninstall method of choice?

I wouldn't cut the gasket if you don't have to. I'm unsure if they make a replacement gasket but even if they do they aren't the best if they are anything like the windshield gaskets. I had to reuse my original when the glass guy couldn't get my windshield in with the new gasket. I was wondering how this is done as well. I've heard people can pull them out in a few minutes if they know what they're doing.

Re: rear hatch glass un/install

I reused all the window glass rubber on my Blazer, thin metal and plastic putty knives rounded over to remove any sharp edges wood paint stir sticks help keep the gap open while you are working it off / out of the top and hatch. Cleaned with soap and water treated with 1 part Wintergreen oil and 2 parts xylene, Xylene evaporates. Rubber will be like new, if its in good condition to start with. You will need some heavy rubber gloves, Treatment will eat regular Nitrile gloves.
