Re: Rack N Pinion on stock xmember, again...
Since NoLimit was pretty open about what they used in their kit (i searched the thread that the above quotes came from), I'm confident that I can make one of them work. The only real mods to the rack itself look to be the the cast mounts on the unit, which I think I can tig back together.
This is going hand in hand with my other thread, which determines whether or not I'll be doing this (my legroom thread, due to my back surgeries, leg room is preventing me from enjoying my truck and is even making me consider selling...which after all of my work on the truck, adventures in it, and contributions here on the forum, I'd hate to do unless another enthusiast would be taking it). So, I've gotta iron out some details, but I think this is difficult but doable. Ya'll know me, I'll do a video series on it if I do.

Re: Rack N Pinion on stock xmember, again...
I thought I would bump this back up...Any news or a plan of attack? I want to swap mine too I wish the No Limit price was back at his
'introductory" price...

Re: Rack N Pinion on stock xmember, again...
Ya, as fall comes in I slow down on some of the car projects. I don't have the best shop access atm, so fab has to get done a seperate place away from where the truck resides...making something like this a bit annoying.
Plan atm is to get my guys at Napa to give me a 1500 steering rack to try the mods on. They've pretty much given my the greenlight to return it even if I screw it up myself...so they kinda got me a safety net on that one. Soooo, i'd have to get the measurement and mock something up, then take the parts about 40min away so I can TIG them back up. Its still in the pipeline, but its rather far away from my mind. (I'm leaving the country a few times as well, gotta get my time down on the Islands or I go crazy)

Re: Rack N Pinion on stock xmember, again...
Thanks Brew, that does make things a little more difficult adding the travel time. I will continue to watch and learn. I have tackled most other things just not sure on this one...
good luck Dave

Yours probably worked better. I don't think the picture I posted has the rack in proper alignment. It looks like the rack might be too far forward which would throw of your Ackermann alignment if I am not mistaken (cue someone with more knowledge of steering angles to come in and correct me).
