Mikes 48 chevy coe build

New here but need ideas. Found a super straight 48 loadmaster coe. I really can't believe it's so solid and all there. I think it's at least a 2 ton, 22 springs on rear. I'm going to build a duelly pick up
The frame is like new and I think I'd like to rebuild with modern suspension. It currently has a 307 motor, but would like to power with diesel. I've read a lot about using a modern perhaps 1 ton donor and am leaning that way since going to need rear, front, and power anyway. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the truck board, and I really like your idea! There is a member here that has a COE he set on a dodge 1 ton dually chassis. If I can find it, I will post the link here for you.

Here it is!

http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...&highlight=coe

I used to have a 54 COE and I put a 24 valve behind the cab of it. I don't have any pics of the engine in the frame and like a genius, I sold that project.....
