Re: Carb suggestions
A little update: He went with a quick fuel 600 slayer series. Really nice carb which was almost identical to his old holley. The swap was very easy and everything switched right over. We primed the carb with a few cranks and boom it fired right up with an almost perfect idle. Had to lower the floats a little bit and then sent him on his way. About an half job. I didn't even adjust the mixture screws probably should have, but figured that would be up to him.
Still complained of a part throttle stumble. When I put the carb on I noticed that he had the vacuum advance plugged at the dist. I advised him that he should get that hooked back up and retimed and I bet that thing would really come to life. As for the old holley it was leaking fuel every where, it had a new leak from the accel pump which wasn't there last time. Had fuel coming out of the secondaire throttle shafts (this is the leak we could not figure out) put new back bowl on set float levels resealed the carb and still leaked out the shafts. Thanks guys for all the advice.
