1970 Vin Plate location

Could someone take some measurements of where the holes for the vin plate on a 1970 pickup should be? I just need the position down from the latch indentation.

Thanks, is that a 71 or 72 you measured? The vin plate for a 70 is higher up than a 71 or 72

Yes, I did measure my '72. I never thought about that. I guess the jamb vent makes 71-
/72s lower. I just checked a cab I have but it looks like it's a '69. Sorry for giving bad info.

I measured 1-7/16" from the edge of the latch indentation down to the center of the left rivet

If you take the vin plate off for paint where do you find those funny rivets to
replace it?

Re: 1970 Vin Plate location

Where are the VIN locations? I tried to register my vehicle today at DMV and was told I needed to have 2 VIN locations. I could only find the VIN plate on the door...

Re: 1970 Vin Plate location

There are 2 full VINs: metal tag and SPID in the glovebox. There is a partial VIN on the frame rail topside in the vicinity of the steering box.
EDIT: Would use the partial frame VIN only if the SPID didn't exist or the gb door had been changed. Also - actually check the frame VIN first if you're gonna let them see it - might be embarrassing if you learned you had a cab or frame swap in front of the little ol DMV lady.
