Wheel arch panels 72 SWB
Hey guys was just curious what everyone uses for the wheel arch patch panels? i usually get my parts from classicparts.com but they want just as much to ship the part as the cost of the part. they seem to be relatively cheap and i seen a few on ebay with free shipping just dont want to buy something that looks bad when i actually get it to my door step. any input is appreciated .
Thank you |

Re: Wheel arch panels 72 SWB
Be careful about the wheel arch panels you end up buying. I don't know if it is still the case, but several years ago, the only wheel arch panels available didn't have the correct indentation detail around the lip of the opening. I ended up finding an OEM donor bed to get my arch panels off of in order to get the correct shape. Hopefully, the repop tooling for these has improved, but thought I'd just point this out.

Re: Wheel arch panels 72 SWB
oh geez. yeah now im real worried if there are some different ones. i just dont want the wheel arch body like to look all screwed up. i wished i had a donor bed that would be awesome...
i guess would anyne know if P/N GMK414365067L would work or not? or if someone could point me in the right direction. i may just call classic parts and see if they will send me both panles in one box to save on shipping to hell i dont know. |

You might try Manes Truck Parts. They are east of KC, MO. http://www.manestruckparts.com/ See what their price and shipping total is. Just call & ask if the panel has the correct profile around the wheel arch. LockDoc

I have an old one that I believe came from LMC. Seems like crap to me, I don't think I'd use it.

Re: Wheel arch panels 72 SWB
Bought oem complete long bed locally for full swap out but haven't done it yet. You are looking at big bucks taking that route for short, but you could buy used oem long bedside and use it for cuts. The outer skin is one thing, but mine also needs inner. Once you consider all that, a long bedside will run less in the end and you will have the taillight housing, top rail, and the rest for the future or resell. If you get mildly rear ended, you will be glad to have a TL housing sitting around :-).
Contact specialtyretail here on the board. He is in MO and will probably have some sides and beds. EDIT: Eh, I looked at the map and it looks like he's a couple hundred miles from you.
