63 c10, installing a LS engine
Im currently installing a 2002 6.0L into my 63 SWB C10. I purchased adjustable conversion plates from POL that allow 1/2" back and 2 1/2" forward for setting the engine. has anyone used these and has a quick picture of them? I cant seem to get them to position the engine forward enough, Thank you.

Re: 63 c10, installing a LS engine
just from looking at that kit it looks like you'd have a bunch of adjustability. ...are your sure you bave the brackets on right? can you post a pic of how you have it installed?....

I used the ICT brackets and Inline 6 frame stands and had to go to the 2" forward position to get firewall clearance. I'm a little further back than others I've seen but I can still pull the passenger valve cover and coil packs off so I'm happy |

Re: 63 c10, installing a LS engine
2 of the holes are beveled so that you use a tapered mounting bolt into the block behind the motor mounts. if I flip the other way the beveled holes are in the wrong spot. I called POL and asked and he said that it was mounted correctly but another set of plates I purchased that said they put the motor into the stock location are the same as these ones in the full engine forward position.

Re: 63 c10, installing a LS engine
I used ebay plates on mine that locate LS to stock location and all my holes were countersunk...they had both stock location and 2in forward

Re: 63 c10, installing a LS engine
I may have to counter sink opposite holes myself, just wanted to make sure before I messed something up. I think ill send pics to POL as I'm sure they will look into the issues for me????

Re: 63 c10, installing a LS engine
looks like your trans mount needs flipped around so the mount tab is on the backside of the crossmember
surely they'll help you out...was there a right and left side to the mounts?

Re: 63 c10, installing a LS engine
I believe the trans crossmember needs to be flipped around so that the tube is forward of the mount. But I have never used an aftermarket trans crossmember.....plenty of factory crossmembers to be found that work just fine.

Re: 63 c10, installing a LS engine
Most trans mounts I have seen have the tab part to the rear, not forward like you have it. Like others, flip the crossmember around and you should be good to go.

Re: 63 c10, installing a LS engine
well word to the wise, the Performance On Line LS cross member and transmission mount will not work when installing a 2002 4L80-E transmission. As you can see in the pics I had to use 5/8" spacers to get the casting and bolts to stay high enough so that they didn't touch the tube. I also had to elongate the LS adjustable motor mount plates by 3/4". The issue I had was that the coil pack on the passenger side was about 1/4" from the fire wall and felt this was too close. I made the parts work but would do a little more research the next time.

Re: 63 c10, installing a LS engine
keep in kind your driveline angles...you need about 3 deg downward angle on the engine and trans...it should match your rear diff you which should be about 3 deg upward angle.....
