292 Swap question
I am having problems with the 292 in my 68 C10, and it looks like I need a new motor, or to rebuild the old one.
I am buying a 292 from a member on here that came out of a 72 C20. It is also a 4 speed. I hear about different starters on these motors. Will the flywheel from my old motor be the same as the newer 72 motor? The new motor doesn't have a starter, so I am hoping to just swap the starter from my old one. Will it be the same? Do I need to get a starter from a 72? I looked up the starters on Rock auto, and it is the same part # for a rebuilt AC Delco starter for both trucks. I am getting the flywheel and bellhousing from the 72, so I should have all of the parts except the starter to do the swap. Does anyone know what issues I might run into? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: 292 Swap question
I think it's a direct swap. GM changed the size of the flywheel bolts at one time. I think, but don't quote me, that '67 was the last year for the small flywheel bolts.

Re: 292 Swap question
Should not be a problem the starter mounts to bell housing.
