68,C-10---Fan clearance?
My fan is half in,half out of the shroud.
What's it supposed to be? There's about 4" gap between the fan and radiator. It's a 68,C-10,327,auto with a/c,power steering,etc. Thanks,Mike. |

Re: 68,C-10---Fan clearance?
I think it's good too.
But,is it correct for my 68? Did it require a spacer when new?I don't have one in it. I put a new clutch on it today and it is the same as the old one, which was an aftermarket style too. I don't know if the clutch is correct either,so the question about the fan depth. A picture of an original fan/clutch in the shroud would help. Mike. |

Re: 68,C-10---Fan clearance?
I can't answer as to what is correct for your '68 -- maybe someone else will be able to.
As far as I know, spacers are not used with clutch fans. Since your fan if half-in and half-out of the shroud (just as it should be), the clutch you are using is the right size. With A/C, and depending on the fan you're using, you may need a heavy duty clutch instead of a standard duty. Great info here: http://www.haydenauto.com/featured%2...s/content.aspx

Re: 68,C-10---Fan clearance?
The clutch is why I started this repair. My old clutch lost it's oil and had no resistance left.
I haven't had any overheating trouble.(Yet!) I replaced it with a heavy duty thermal type clutch. I've looked, but can't find a good view of the fan/shroud.Seems everyone likes to take pics from the front of the engine!LOL! Not looking to be perfect, but I 'd like it to look close to original. Mike. |
