assembling front sheetmetal

anyone have any write up's or pictures how the front end goes back together?

i got the radiator support in and tried mounting the front inner fenders and outer fenders and just see no where for them to go or bolt too except the 4 holes in front of the doors on the cab. been like a year since i tore them apart but cant make any sense of it

Like dsraven said, let us know what year/make of truck you are working on. Good chance your radiator support will bolt to the front of your fenders first, then bolt your fenders to the top mounting bolt that is on the outside of your cab (in the front on the outside). Once you have your fenders bolted to the cab and radiator support, then you can put your inner fenders last. But, let us know what your truck is.

That should be in the first sentence of the question when one poses a question if not in the title. One reason being is that some of us are well versed in AD trucks while others are equally or even more so well verse in TF trucks.

Then if one has a modification like a subframe swap, frame swap or ? that needs to be noted. That will help get the proper answer from the guy (s) who have been there done that.

Those of us with AD trucks have for the most part found that it is a lot simpler to install the hood and get it square away on the cab before matching the rest of the nose up to the cab and hood. Sometimes you might spin the wheel and hit the jackpot the first time by bolting the nose on and fitting the hood but most often it works a lot smoother the other way.

If you are dealing with a 47/54 I found out on my truck that it works best for me to mount the core support and bolt the inner fenders to the firewall and core support and then fit the fenders to the inner fenders. The grill is a pain no matter how you do it but I always wait until everything else fits before installing the grill.

so simple even an ogre could do it

We still need to know - at least - what year the truck is. I have a detailed procedure I'd post for a '55/2, but won't do it until I know it's relevant.

The Assembly manual an the factory service manual are both needed investments when you work on these trucks.

The Assembly manual shows how the parts fit together and gives measurements. The factory service manual has instructions for a lot of the fine adjustments on the sheet metal on the trucks. The service manual is written in very simple language but is very detailed and the writers then did not assume that the guy doing the work had ever worked on that model of vehicle before.

stock frame. took the whole front end off to put a v8 on it and want to slap the fenders back on to test tire fitment. the service manual has no pictures which is really all i need. im gonna try to go out there today and mess with it
