New (to me) heart & legs for my 72 GMC 3/4 ton 4X4
A 2004 6.0 LS motor with 4L65E transmission and transfer case I purchased was just dropped off. Had A little incident and dropped it from about 4" in the air. Luckily I had several layers of card board on the ground so all that happened was the oil pan was cracked. But its here now.. WES

Glad there was no serious damage! This will be an interesting project, I have heard an LS into a K-series can be difficult.

Not as much difficult as expensive. Dirty dingo makes an engine cross member for it and advanced adapter does the 4L65E to 205 adapters. So it shouldn't be really bad anyway. One of my customers designed the adapter for Advanced adapter and he will be a big help also. WES

I'd love to follow a build thread. I've got a 69 gmc 1/2 ton I've been thinking of doing the same thing to. I love the truck!

Nice engine choice. You're right, it isn't cheap but it will be nice when it's done.

Read a few threads on dropping a LS in a 4x4. What kind of expensive are you guys thinking? $5k? $10k?

Re: New (to me) heart & legs for my 72 GMC 3/4 ton 4X4
It all depends on what you want to do. The dirty dingo ls engine crossmember is ~300, then are you gonna carb it leave it injected? Modern transmission? Etc. a good bit depends on how much you get the motor and or trans for. Also a lot of it is in using a modern tranny keeping the np205. It can get over 5000 pretty quick depending on what is done.
