inner fender to outer fender question

quick question....does the front inner fender tuck into the lip of the outer fender, or is it vice versa?

The inner fender bolts to the outside of the lip on the outer fender. I suppose they did it this way so that if any water were to run down the inner fender, it would simply roll off the edge, versus getting trapped in the outer fender lip.

Easier to take out to remove heater box for core change
