Dana 20 with PTO in chevy

I picked up a 1972 4x4 Chevy that came with a Dana 20 transfer case that has a PTO drive on the bottom for a winch. Has anyone come across one of these before?

Pics would be great, so your saying on the bottom, in place of the oil pan?

And a turbo 400 to boot! Never seen anything like that in a 72. I'd venture to guess it was possible some type of fleet order or a conversion for a specific task

Re: Dana 20 with PTO in chevy

From what I have read, it was not as common in chevys, but not unheard of. From what I understand these PTO drive stick to a turbo 400 are really rare. I don't plan on using it so if there's someone out there that could use it and I can get an idea of the value I would appreciate it

Late 60's Jeep Comandos came with a Buick V-6 and a 400 turbo Dana 20 combo. I would bet someone just changed the bell housing at some point.

Those have a BOP (Buick, Olds, Pontiac) bolt pattern for the TH400. Adapters are available.

Re: Dana 20 with PTO in chevy

According to a tech at Novak I was speaking to the other day, the Dana 20's were only used in GM's for a couple years. My 69 Blazer has one (no PTO). He indicated the adapter from 465 to the TC is very rare. Put thousands upon thousands of the dana 20's in Jeeps and in some 1 ton military vehicles.
