1968 GMC w/ NP 435 - Gasket Set

I'm rebuilding a 350 and getting ready to drop it into my truck pretty soon. Before I do that, I'm going to (obviously) remove the existing 327 and transmission together. I figured since I have the transmission out I'd like to put a new gasket set onto it.

Does anyone here have experience with the NP435 and/or know a reliable source to get parts for it? I tried rockauto and found the gasket set in their ford section, but I'm not sure if the differences will create any issues.

I'm still fairly new to this world, so is there anything else I should change while I've got the tranny out? It ran perfectly before the motor went out, so I'm not sure if a full rebuild is necessary.

Thank you in advance!

I know it sounds weird, but I did pretty extensive research and am 100% sure it's an NP435. Here's a picture of the casting number on it. I don't have any other photos on hand right now, but it has the very obvious NP435 shape and aluminum top plate.

Correct, it's a New Process 435 4-speed transmission

Yeah I was surprised they'd have a Chrysler product. I was responding to someone who didn't believe I had an NP435 and wanted proof, but they deleted their post...

One way to check is with a magnet, which won’t stick to the aluminum top cover of the NP435. The NP435 also has the PTO cover plate on the passenger’s side.

I've checked both and they're true. It's definitely an NP435

Yes, in a lot of GM trucks during the 60's are early 70's, particularly GMC's. Novak is good, I think the last time I built one I used www.drivetrain.com. Be careful ordering parts, there are MANY different versions of these. A very stout transmission, and there are both wide and close ratio versions. New Process was owned by Chrysler for a number of years, but they were an independent division and sold transmissions to many manufacturers. 435's were used by GM, Dodge, Ford, and International. New Process was sold off and merged with Muncie to form New Venture, which in turn got bought by Magna.
