Cab differences

I'm going to look at a 69 cab to replace my rusty 71 cab. How much difference is there (emergency brake), in the cabs and how difficult is it to change over the necessary parts. Larry

The primary difference is the throttle linkage. 71/72 use a cable linkage, 67-70 used a rod linkage. There is a recent thread documenting one member's conversion technique. If it were me I'd just make the neccessary changes to go with the rod style as that is the path of least resistance IMO. The ebrake is the same, 67/68 used a hand style e-brake, 69 was first year of foot pedal. Only other issue is whether you need a small or big hump cab. Big humps are in 4x4's, 4 speed manuals and BB trucks.

The 71-72's also use a different fuel line system so you will have an extra hole in the floor coming from the gas tank and there will be a vent in the drivers door pillar.

CPNE has got you covered on the cab swap deal......he is pretty sharp,(for an old man)! Sorry, had to do it the cable or rod issue on the throttle ....either way pretty much works for me also. My 69 was converted to cable, but it was due to some of the weird swaps I have done(425 Cad, & a 461 " Olds )....man was that Olds fun! For the run of the mill chev , the diffs arent enough to "fight with " , i would use the 69 cab if you have a good one. Good luck, crazyL

A couple other things that won't really matter, just won't be right for all the nit pickers...71 has a raised pad for the rear view mirror, this is a 71 only feature. Also, the 71/72 has a vent in the drivers door jamb.
Like I said...nothing important.
