Chevrolet 5200 Differential
I was reading that my truck (72 C20 292 3 on the tree) has a Chevrolet 5200 rear axle. The truck has not been delivered yet. Is that what we call a 12 bolt? thanks

Re: Chevrolet 5200 Differential
The 5200# GAWR axle is an Eaton HO52. It has a drop out center section like a Ford 9” but it also has a cover that bolts on the rear unlike the 9” which is an integral part of the housing. Don’t remember how many bolts hold it on. The HO52/72 are the precursor to the Full Float 14 bolt.
The 5500# axle is a Dana 60. The Nest step up is the 7200# HO72. I think the 12 bolt is rated at 3500# GAWR?
