1971 Rear Brake Diagram
Does anybody out there have a good picture of the rear brake assembly on a 1971 1/2 ton truck???? (Chevrolet 11" brake) I need a good picture or diagram showing the spring installation on the left & right sides. I have looked in several manuals and haven't found anything useful. I had to strip my brakes off when I rebuilt the differential. I should have taken pictures..... but who's to say the brakes were installed properly in the first place. My brakes were messed up too. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated! TJ

I can't remember how the parking brake cable attaches to the shoe. Anyone have a picture?

Re: 1971 Rear Brake Diagram
^^^This is a picture of the left side. Note that the shoe with more friction material is the rear. The right side is a mirror image. If you ended up with shoes with long linings on both, that's OK. I've seen them come that way, before.

Re: 1971 Rear Brake Diagram
Secondary (rear) shoe ALWAYS have more lining material that the primary (front) shoe on dual servo brakes like these.
