1967 C10 grille emblem
Stupid question. I didn’t pay attention when I took this emblem off the grille and am confused as to which way it goes back on. Both ways look wrong to me. One side is thicker than the other, which is the top?

Re: 1967 C10 grille emblem
It only fits in one way. It is notched to fit in the grill.

Re: 1967 C10 grille emblem
You'd think so. But the emblem does not have any notches to fit around the surrounds. Of course I am assuming this emblem is really correct for a 1967. It was on the truck when I bought it.
BTW I like the hood on your truck, is that steel?

If it helps, it's upside down in your first pic.

Re: 1967 C10 grille emblem
Okay I have it thick side up now. I flipped it again but it still doesn't look right. Maybe it's because I don't have a front bumper. I think it would look better if it sat between the surrounds instead of overlapping them. Anyway thanks for the help.

Re: 1967 C10 grille emblem
No good pict. But I watched Overhaulin this morning and a '67 rework and they showed a good close up of the emblem mount mall side up as you guts said. Without the front bumper on my truck that emblem just sticks out too far IMHO. I will attempt to come up with an option, like find or make a smaller emblem that will sit between the surrounds, before I take it all apart again to totally eliminate the emblem.

Re: 1967 C10 grille emblem
LOL, Well I did see numbers on it but nothing about top. With the numbers positioned correctly the thick part is the top. I'm sure this emblem is aftermarket.

Re: 1967 C10 grille emblem
Well curiosity got to me and I ran out to the garage and checked my 68's emblem. I'm pretty sure it's original cause it has the GM part no. on it. It was installed with the thick side up and it fit flush against the trim surround. I turned it around to the thin side up and there is a noticeable gap between the emblem and the surround. I think it looks better with the thick side on top as it matches the rearward slant of the front end at the bottom.

Re: 1967 C10 grille emblem
I am so confused!!!! If you search for pictures of our grilles every one I see has the emblem thin side up, including the one I saw on Overhaulin this morning. But if you search for just pictures of the emblem they all show the thick side up.

Re: 1967 C10 grille emblem
I never noticed mine looking awkward with the thick side up so that's how mine's going to stay. That's the cool thing about these trucks, they look killer any way you put 'em together!

Re: 1967 C10 grille emblem
I guess it could be mounted either orientation based on what is liked When I worked on my grill and surrounds and bought a new one I put it thick side up. Some friends noticed right away that I had it upside down. I had totally missed that but it still looked good

Me too. I went out and checked mine: 3 Trucks (2-‘67’s & 1-’68), 2 ‘67/’68 front clips, and 3 ‘67/’68 grills and all of them have the narrow side of the emblem at the top. I can tell you that the top fits the painted hoops much better than the aluminum ones…. No gap on the painted ones. LockDoc
