Ultimate Suburban roof rack

Ok I know this is a 73 and up Suburban but I have to pass this picture along. My buddy took the picture in February when he was in Florida.

I don't understand why all the CDs? The bad paint and the gap are one thing... but the CDs? Supposed to give it a disco ball effect? Reflectors?
