Backwards upper rad hose outlet? Pointing other way? Swivel?
I'm considering a Ron David triple-pass radiator. They say the triple pass (where it makes 3 crossings across the radiator instead of 1) boosts cooling capacity by about 25% in the same package size.
The downside is it moves one of the hose outlets - they wind up on the same side. Since the water pump comes out the passenger side bottom, that means the top has to come out the passenger side top, which is backwards from stock. Does anyone make a thermostat housing that is basically pointed the mirror image of the factory one? I could likely get a swivel but I'm afraid it'll leak and look too out of place.

I don't know of a passenger side outlet but a forward facing outlet is not a problem then it would be a matter of finding a hose off like a ford 460, 302, AMC 360, or a BB dodge that feeds to the passenger side. Time to buy a pizza for your favorite auto parts store.

Re: Backwards upper rad hose outlet? Pointing other way? Swivel?
A single pass or regular style radiator has the inlet/outlet on opposite sides. A double pass puts them on opposite sides since it turns and goes back where it came from, right? Seems a triple pass would have the same inlet/outlet orientation as a single pass. What am I missing?

My 65 Caprice uses a right side upper hose outlet.
Big block or small block uses the same part. Try to find one and it will work. You can probably use the same upper hose too! If you can find it in iron-Much better! Mike. Last edited by 100%Chevy; 05-14-2018 at 07:57 PM. |

I don't know where triple pass came from, but you've convinced me. I'm calling it a two pass or double pass from now on!
