Hello from Charlotte,NC 1987 R-10 owner
Greetings ! Completed my truck after 17 months. The original 350 with new cam & lifters and Hooker ceramic headers. However....the Headers are very close to the starter/solenoid and overheat after a short trip. I have to wait for it to cool down to re start. I got the Headers from JEGS. They said a starter wrap would fix it. I bought one from them and wrapped starter/solenoid and it did not work. I don't want to remove the headers ! What do other guys do to solve this ? Please and thanks for any experienced advice !

Re: Hello from Charlotte,NC 1987 R-10 owner
Welcome
I put a mini hi torque starter on mine. It has been years ago. Sorry I don't remember what brand or any info. I have Hooker Headers and it was Close also. It made a big difference in the clearance. Also It started better hot and cold. I got it from Jegs or Summit (one or the other). This forum Really likes Pictures. Dwayne |

I second the mini starter recommendation. I had the same issue with my Nova which the mini starter solved. I also second liking the seat and carpet, very cool! Love the color combo as well. Nice job.

Also another thing about Headers is they really like to burn sparkplug wires.
I bought some billet brackets that bolt in the bottom two bolts and run the full length of valve cover to keep them off |
