Door Striker Backing nut?
So I take my door striker off and hear a thud when removed... The nut holding the striker fell to the bottom of the cab. This makes it extreamly difficult to screw in the new striker!!!
https://photos.app.goo.gl/BPh8xYK62LZ9MZuW9 So now what? feels like I'm gonna need to cut a hole in the door jam so I can fish the backing nut out from the cab and hold it in place so I can screw the new striker in. Isn't there suppose to be a fixed nut in this location? The opening in the door jam looks to be factory and solid so I'm questioning if there really was a fixed nut there to begin with or not. Note if I do have to cut an opening in the door jam I'll likely pop rivet a replacement vin tag over the opening when done. |

Re: Door Striker Backing nut?
You can get to it without cutting holes. If you have rear speakers behind the seat, take those out and you can reach behind there and get it. Even if don't have speakers, you can reach behind there and get the striker nut.
And your strikers are missing the bushing. Get you some new strikers, they have the bushings on it already. Your doors will close a lot easier.

Re: Door Striker Backing nut?
This is what you are looking for. You should be able find it behind the door jamb. |

Re: Door Striker Backing nut?
You hold it up there with your one hand, and then thread the striker bolt unto the nut.
