2in wheel spacers?

This is my 69. I just can't get used to Chevys having there tires so far under the truck.
I would like to move my wheels out 2in. I have 15in aluminum 6 lug wheels.
I'm guessing wheel spacers are my only option? Not wanting to buy more wheels.
And are they safe? A owner of our local tire shop told me that wheel spacers are not safe because the weight is not on the hub anymore, it's on the bolts.
Also, if any of you have done this could you please post a pic? And tell me where you bought them?

I sure wouldn't go 2 inches, that's 4 inches in track width.

But I've got 1/2" spacers on mine to clear the hubcaps and I could have doubled them up for a full inch on each side. It does square up the look some.

It's totally arbitrary but I wouldn't feel comfortable going much more than a half to full inch per wheel. And of course you need longer studs and all of that.

Mine are 8-bolt and I got them on eBay.

Those wheels are only a year old, don't really want to buy again.
It's hard to find 15in, 6 lug wheels with the offset to get the tires out.

I've had 2 inch spacers on the back of my K20 for years with no problems.

Running a 1 inch spacer with 20x10 and 5.5 backspacing with 5 inch rear drop. Don't think a 2 inch spacer made from the 6106 aluminum would be an issue..

But you want spacers.

Be carefull. DOT becomes unhappy if your wheel failure reveals spacers and an accident involves injury to others.

Spacers change geometry and steering, They put a strain on other parts... including the wheel studs.

I had one fail on me. sent the wheel and tire combo down the center of the high way and across a few lanes of oncoming traffic.

The hardware needs constant monitoring and occssional tightening.

I don't think spacers are that big of a deal, within reason. Now, -adapters- spook me. But spacers not so much. I'd still keep them thin though.

88, which wheels are those?

I have the same "issue" and attempted to solve by ordering more backspacing from my wheel manufacturer. They informed me what I had was the max available so I too am running rather large spacers. The only other route with wheels was going to be very expensive.

They are the Riddler Wheels. I have two sets for the front. 20x8 with 4.5 backspacing and 18x8 with 4.5 backspacing

I have run wheel spacers over the years on different vehicles, VW's to 1/2 ton pickups and haven't had an issue doing it. The last ones I bought from Gaugemagazine.com. They are 6061-T6 material. With new wheels or adaptors you should torque them and back them off a couple of times before you torque them and run them. Recheck the torque after some run time. Then they should do well.

It's not what the spacers are made out of that concerns me about using 2" spacers rather than the right wheels. It's the original design bearings, spindles, ball joints, and even the studs that were not made to take that stress that concern me. Leverage. The correct wheel with the amount of dish you want will also be wider with the correct amount of backspace to counter the offset.

Spacers are not the 'only' way to go. Correct wheels or get used to the look of these trucks are the 'only two options' for me.
