47-55.1 Requesting input on good fuel tank options (under bed)

By best I mean the relatively easy, and hopefully baffled design. I want the OE tank out of the cab, and a new tank under the bed. Nothing fancy mind you, but solid working tank. I have called a lot (but being new probably not most). So far Brothers, LMC, Speedway, CPP, and Tanks Inc. The others which are more "universal" are JEGS, and Summit.

I am leaning toward a 16 gal Tanks, or Brothers...especially since Brothers were so helpful on the phone....kinda feel like they would come help install it!

Anyhow given all the resources the reason I ask is the rear leafs are welded in pretty narrow at the rear from the previous owner. Not trying to be cheap, or put things off (unless necessary), but to pace the budget on everything you could do to one. Truck has a 12 bolt rear end, and V8 donor from a passenger car already. Things look rather tight, and I don't want to tub for wheels/ tank/ etc. again unless it becomes a "need". Thanks for helping a nub.

Hey Brown Package, do a search in the box at the top; there are several thread on installing rear underbed tanks. I used an S10 Blazer tank but that was in an truck with an S10 frame so may not be relevant to yours. Routed the fill flush with the bed wood:

Hey sorry guys was chomping at the bit to get things rolling, and the truck is up on a lift. It's a 49' Chevy with Mus II front end, and 12 bolt rear (leaf springs). The latter is part of the fit issue as the rear leaf brackets set just to the inside of the frame (narrow passage for a tank).

I ordered a 65 mustang tank for my 50. Good fit between the frame rails and was easy to make a support frame from 3/4” angle to support it all the way around

So mine I would have to remove/ move it, as well the shackle mounts for the leaf springs the previous owner put in keep it pretty narrow. Thought I had the measurement handy but it is with the truck in the shop for some mods that are beyond my scope at this point. More to follow. Looking at a Tanks Inc generic fuel cell at this point. Again, more to follow.

The Tanks universal has the fuel pickup opening on the top. The Mustang tank has it on the bottom or rear wall. Top is easier to deal with and will package better.

Thanks everyone, sorry I have been idle. Got my measurements and got excited. Went with a Tanks Inc generic 16 gal. Wanted a bit bigger, but gotta fit what i can without making huge modifications for now. Really appreciate all the input! Love seeing the photos of how everyone approached it.
