Is it possible to install a bed stake fuel filler without messing up completed truck?
I am gonna get a top or side fill Boyd tank for my 71.I really hate to put the filler cap in the bed floor.I would love to get side fill and locate the filler somewhere else on left side. Can this be done with out causing a lot of problems on completed truck?

I like Grumpy's answer. The taillight filler can be done with minimal damage to the surrounding finish.

that is a really old thread and if memory serves no one makes them or has a template. If i am wrong please point me in the right direction. i would like to do this to my project and the only advice someone gave from that thread (which grumpy only sent the first two pages) was to use cardboard to get the dimensions. i hope that helps you in your quest to have a really cool gas filler without doing damage. i do agree that the taillight filler is cooler than a stakeholder, just my 0.02

I used a fuel door off of a late 90's Chevy pickup and fuel pipe cover in the bed off of a late 80's Mazda pickup.

Re: Is it possible to install a bed stake fuel filler without messing up completed tr
I thought what Metaldoc did here was super cool. If I ever switch to an under bed tank this is what I'll do. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...45#post7586745
If I keep my in-cab tank and add an under bed tank, then I'm going to use valves and pumps to move fuel to and from the in-cab tank and just not have a filler neck at all on my under bed tank. |
