oil fill tube seal?
Anybody know where to get one and part number? It is the rubber seal that goes between the oil fill tube and valve cover.......it's on my 86.

You say oil fill tube. This is a stock valve cover right? Don't you have a twist on oil cap? If it's just a push in cap, you can buy the rubber grommets at any autoparts store.

I got a free catalog from www.LMCTRUCK.com for my Blazer.. I swear it is as good as a manual and it lists parts down to the bolts , nuts and all microscopic parts. The best thing is it is geared JUST for mt Blazer and Jimmy's 1973-91..no sorting through stuff that doesn't pertain to your truck. Pictures are detailed down to the smallest part. In most cases they explain stuff to you so you understand how the part works or goes in. GREAT catalog..and it is FREE and arrives quick, as well. Your type of cap wasn't in my book.

I too have looked at a few on line parts places an none of them have the tube mentioned or listed.....so I am thinking this is not the original engine or either the previous owner installed the tube to make it easier to add oil to it. I may just buy an original cap and go that way. By the way my oil fill and dipstick is on the left side...I think that has something to do with GM going to a 1 piece rear seal in 86....right?

You've got the stock setup. My '86 350 has the same filler tube. I like it! If you're good, you don't need a funnel to fill the oil.
 I couldn't tell you about the oil seal at the valve cover, though. I havent had a leakage problem. You could try buying some of the sheet gasket material and making your own. Just a thought... Good luck!

I believe I remember this tube now. It's been so long since I had my 305. Does it screw in like the cap or just push in the valve cover? If I'm remembering this right, it also has a brace coming off of it, or at least a screw holding it down.

It is a rubber o-ring about 1/8th-1/4 inch thick...so I don't think gasket material will seal it. I beleive it screws in but have not taken it off yet. No brace...but not sure about a screw securing it.
