When was the last time anyone saw one of these? 67-72 C60 milk truck

Just wondering when the last time someone saw one of these was?
I saw this beauty sitting in a field in the mountains while on vacation. It has a 350, 465 4 speed, and I believe a 2 speed rear end. I am going to be contacting the owner to see if he wants to sell it, I just love it. He said the coolers in the back even still work but has to be plugged into 220.

Theres a guy around here who has a dark blue one, uses as his work truck. No doors and I'm pretty sure he keeps all of his equipment/material in the back

Our local dairy ran one of these up into the early nineties. Then it sat by their barn for years until someone snatched it up.

Guess I'm showing my age, but our dairy had a couple of them for the retail routes in the 80s. I would go get one of the trucks and drive it up the hill and load it after all the other trucks were out of the way. I remember them having incredible torque but no top end. Later they scrapped one and sold off a route to a couple and they ran it for years in the same truck. Tragically, the lady was killed in an accident involving a semi overtaking her from behind on the 4 lane. If you do get it, it would be a fun set up, but do be careful, the traffic moves at a pace that no longer accommodates these old milk and ice cream trucks. I love it myself.

I don't see them running anymore, but we had a new dairy start up that ran one a while, then put out along US40 as a sign where you turn to go to the dairy.

Then there is one way farther west on US40 along I-68 up in Garrett Co sitting out front of a restaurant. A truck stop just north on US15 had a dark blue one on their back lot for a long time. Always wanted to ask about buying, but now gone. Then... there was this C/30 at the landfill emptying brush. The guy had it built new and delivered eggs with it all his life. Retired now he restored it. I took pictures 12-15 years ago. I'll have to find them. It was a single wheel '68 in Light Green

I saw them make a "working" dairy truck out of one of these (I think) on Monster Garage once.

By "working" I mean they put a cow in it, had a milking machine, and pasteurizing equipment, and fresh milk came out of a tap on the side of the truck.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, that’s probably what I would end up doing with it. Ironically we spotted it while we were camping in the mountains haha.

I hear ya on the speed issue, I won’t even drive my C10 on the interstate unless I have to. Heck I hate driving modern vehicles on the interstate, I don’t care about the gas mileage I avoid them unless it’s the only route. My dad always said “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.” Haha

That’s really cool that a new dairy ran one. I would’ve never imagined them doing that because of the cost of running it. I definitely would’ve bought milk from them just to see it roll up though.

Their whole thing is to bring back home delivery. I see their trucks near and far, just not the oldie. They are making it work somehow. They have gotten pretty big. They have it set up for kids to see the operation from petting cows to the milking process... and a little playground. Pretty darn cool!

Our milk still comes by truck just like that, but it's not a 60s truck!

I worked for Brooks Armoured Car service in wilmington delaware back in the early 80's. they had armoured cars that looked identical but with thicker glass, pistol ports all around and single doors on the pass side and one in the rear.

A friend of mine who used to rent out movie vehicles in Los Angeles, had one with the 292 i6, Muncie SM465 tranny, single rear wheels and the entire body was fiberglass and in VGC .

He offered it to me for $800, I wanted it but no where to park the massive beast .

I too thought it'd perhaps make a good camper rig .

That’s awesome, I had no idea they came with fiberglass. This one is definitely not because it’s got some rust holes along the very bottom. The single rear wheel would be awesome too. If I get it I’ll have to put a single rear wheel with a super wide pro street tire on it haha
