Would you do it?
I got an offer today to trade my 69 GMC with a 396 for a 1981 Z-28 Camaro. The camaro needs new paint but is straight. The GMC needs paint and the bullet holes fixed. The camaro has a built small block 400 and a air induction hood with the flapper things on the hood. It has a shift kit in a TH-350. The GMC has a bone stock 396 4bbl. It has a straight body with no rust. Is it worth the trade?

81 Camaro has emissions & 69 GMC does not
81 Camaro will be worth less with time & GMC will probably go up in value 81 Camaro has dime a dozen small block & 69 GMC has a classic big block 81 Camaro has more stuff to break Plus the 80s were not the best years for GM My advice, like all those who preceeded me, stick with the GMC.

Keep the truck.
You'll won't regret it. Especially if you had it for quite a while. |

No contest. Keep the truck. Just say "No" to all Mustangs & any Camaros in the Redneck Years. 1st gen, sure. 4th gen, depends. But an 81, not worth it.

10-4!! Im with everyone else. I personally would love to have an original 396 pickup. I do like the 87-89 IROC's, but I wouldn't trade an original BB truck for one.

I had an 81 Z28, it was a very good car. I'd love to have one again, but I dont know if I'd trader a nice big block truck for one. Here in Alabama there is no emmisions testing so that would be good. You wont like working on it compared to your truck, its a lot more compact but not near as bad as the newer cars are. They handle great, ride decent, and can be made fast(sounds like this one may be fast). Theres a lot of parts and resto parts available for them to.
