Brake pedal return spring

Been a bit since I've had time for the truck. In the time lapse, memory has lapsed as well. The memory lapse is the fact, I cannot locate the original brake pedal return spring which indicates I've misplaced it very very well. Trying to locate a new one. I've done a search here and at my local parts stores with no joy to be had. So the question is, does anyone know if an aftermarket spring is made for a 64-66 C10, or will a 67-72 brake pedal return spring work? Is there another spring which will work?

Re: Brake pedal return spring

I might have to take you up on that, especially if there isn't any others that will work. I'll hit you up by PM to work out the details if there isn't any other options.

Re: Brake pedal return spring

I had a hard time finding one for my 62. I ended up getting a generic spring from the hardware store and cutting it down to make it fit.

Re: Brake pedal return spring

A thought popped into my head a few minutes ago, so I better put it out before it is lost pinging around in the cranial cavity. Are the clutch pedal return and the brake pedal spring the same, or nearly the same length? Clutch pedal return springs might still be available as well. If anyone has both, can you post the lengths please?

Re: Brake pedal return spring

The springs on my 62 were different. The brake spring on hooks through a slotted opening in he top of the pedal box so it needed a long hook so it wouldn't bind. I bought a clutch spring for a 62 c10 but it was too long so I had to find a generic replacement for both springs. I hope these photos help.

Re: Brake pedal return spring

The springs on the 4-6 look to be the same spring. I looked last night and pulled two from the same pedal assembly and they are what appears to be an exact match.

Sounds like that is a winner. Even if the clutch is slightly longer, one could cut and then bend a new hook to make it work. Good information PGSigns.

Thanks for the photos 62bagger.
