Carrier bearing bracket

I am replacing the 2 piece driveshaft to a 1 piece. Do I grind off the rivitts on the bracket? Will a 3" diameter driveshaft fit? 72 SWB 2 wheel drive.

Re: Carrier bearing bracket

I center punch and drill the rivets, then punch them out. 3" drive shaft should fit, not a lot of extra space. any drop will also be close. Super clean under cab! Whats the rest of your truck look like?
