Re: Help identify what truck this is
A quick update I put a coil and a set of points in and filled fuel bowls full and she fired right up. Now I got to get it cleaned up.

Once you get it cleaned up. You will not have this one long. Unless you clean it (Too Good). Leave it in it's Street clothes. That way (You) will not have a Nuther Build

Re: Help identify what truck this is
Lol. I know what you mean. This will definitely not be a project for me. I got a 66 stepside in the deal and will get it going. My next project is a 1951 for my wife.

Re: Help identify what truck this is
I feel any of the longhorns or GMC are very Special trucks. Most of them where heavily Options They where the best of the best. The one good thing that All GMC or Chevy longhorns have is all of them came with leaf springs.
I'm so happy i still have my 1968 longhorn It as the 396/400 AC power steering when i got the truck No power brakes.Truck is in very good shape.Needs new bed wood. But cab has no cancer doors are not cut dash is not cut.I'm second owner. I too am a 1964--66 truck man my self but along the way i bought a few 1967--72 chevy trucks and 3 door suburbans.I pick up a 1966 short bed fleet side big window 10 years ago.Never was into the short beds but for 1500.00 could not go wrong in 2009 |

Re: Help identify what truck this is
Ok guys an update on this truck. I also want to thank everyone for the help figuring out what kind of truck this is. She is cleaned up and running. It drives and stops. Lights and turns work. I will have it posted in the for sale ads soon.

Re: Help identify what truck this is
OK, Longhorn experts...I know little of them, also..
Were they only available in 3/4 and 1 ton models? |

Re: Help identify what truck this is
by no means an expert, just bought my first longhorn and it went straight to the farm, haven't seen in person yet..
here's a brochure I just got, scanned for you guys to peruse at your leisure.. some Longhorn info on page 2 that may be useful to you, and lots and lots of RPO codes hope it helps, good luck!

Re: Help identify what truck this is
I bought this 133" wheelbase for a parts truck. I got it running, fell in love, and now it's my daily driver.

Re: Help identify what truck this is
If I got it right (NOT an expert), Longhorn is a 3/4T thing (8'-6" bed), not available in 1/2T (max 8' bed), and a 1T would be a 9' bed, but not called a Longhorn.

Re: Help identify what truck this is
Here's a little reading material I think you'll find informative:
oldchevytrucks.com/blog/index.php/2010/02/1968-1972-longhorn/ I pondered buying a C20 Longhorn for about a year; I finally made the move after selling my K10. She's a beaut! |
