Direction on drive-train 72 k15
Hey guys sorry for posting so much today.... I am restoring my truck this winter and spring to Stock looking, It has a 402bb th350 np205. I was thinking about putting a nv4500 in this truck but has anyone done it? Would like the overdrive on highway going hunting cruise about 75-80 33s and 3.73s and the sm465 would be at about 3000 rpm. Any input would be helpful Thanks again!

Last I checked Advance Adapters offers an adapter to replace your factory one to put a Dodge NV4500 in front of the 10-spline early NP205. I think what you want to do is an excellant idea. I'm not sure how easily you'll be able to find that tranny, though.

If your truck had a TH350 (originally) I believe it should be a 27 spline 205 input. When I read your post, I wasn’t sure what your 205 was originally behind, so wanted to mention. As Tim mentioned, if a manual trans originally, would have been 10 spline. Anyway, just make sure you know which before shelling out the $$ for an AA adapter.

Re: Direction on drive-train 72 k15
I converted my 72 K10 SWB from a sm465 to a nv4500 last year. I started with a tranny I had that was 2wd and changed the output shaft to the 32 spline GM 4wd. Then had a machine shop bore out the tcase input bearing bore for the larger bearing and used the AA kit. The whole thing ends up about one inch longer. I chose to move the engine forward to keep the tcase shifter in the same location and move the trans shifter further forward as it is located fairly far back on the tranny. I also had just had a new driveline built for the14 bolt sf rearend and didn't want to do anymore driveline work. I recommend both the nv4500 and the 14 bolt sf rear (to replace a 12 bolt for us half tonners).
