Are all AD spindles the same?

I am chatting with someone on Facebook who has some spindles for sale. I could swear that they changed at some point to accept passenger car hubs, am I wrong?

I have a few pairs, and a pair of passenger car ones, and have planned on matching them up but never have.

What do you guys say.

Re: Are all AD spindles the same?

I have had passenger car backing plates on 48 spindles and 54 spindles and had to use spacers on both to bolt them up. That and I had to drill two new holes in the backing plates as the distance between the top and bottom bolts is different.

It's my understanding that the spindles are the same from at least 51 to 59 I'm not sure if the spindles for Huck brakes are slightly different or not.

Re: Are all AD spindles the same?

No. The 52 and newer were drilled for Bendix brakes. I don’t if there was any other differences on the 3100 trucks. The 52 and newer 3600&3800 spindles took larger bearings and they were taller in the kingpin area.
