Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
Updates...
A/C blowing dust in paint saga... Bought a cut to fit air filter from Lowe's. Wrapped it around the outside of the a/c and also cut some pieces to fit inside the vents. Installation is ghetto but wanted to try it out before I made a more elegant solution just to see if it made a difference. 20180802_091307 by bjohnson388, on Flickr 20180802_091749 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Test paint to see if I get any dust. 20180802_114701 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Still a few. 20180802_115000 by bjohnson388, on Flickr This is a close up of one of the cowl covers you can see how much debris landed in the paint from previous paint session. 20180802_114944 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Sanded them both down to reshoot them. 20180802_120145 by bjohnson388, on Flickr 20180802_122118 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Also installed a 1500 3M filter on the A/c. A little overkill but all sizes are the same price so why not get the biggest one. I will be able to flip it and use it twice. 20180802_120713 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Respray. Still got some debris but they are much smaller and pretty much disappeared once the paint flowed out and dried. 20180802_131639 by bjohnson388, on Flickr 20180802_131656 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Here is one dry. Not the ultimate result I wanted. So I think my new plan for the time being will be to get everything prepped and ready to spray and the get up at the butt crack of dawn and paint really early with no A/C on. 20180803_190700 by bjohnson388, on Flickr 20180803_190653 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Oh I finally did my garage laundry. My wife was giving me a hard time as to why I will fold my garage towels but not the ones in the house. 20180803_190516 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Bret

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
Are you wiping with a microfiber before painting? I've found that they can sometimes static charge rhensurface and really draw in dust. A wipe with wax and grease remover or just plain blow the surface clean has always worked best for me.

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
Excellent job posting Bret, i am getting ready to repaint my front fenders and your build, as in the past will come in handy. Nice to see the truck outside.
Keep up the good work, the truck looks great. I used to clean everything, wear dustless clothes or none, and then hose down the garage floor before spraying to keep dust down, but still would get a couple dust spots. Good luck!

.
I believe Birthday wishes are in order Bret. I know you are busy, but hopefully you will have a day off, or at least some time to celebrate the day. Here’s to a great year ahead.
