LS1 horespower
Question:
Does anyone know why the 99 LS1 from a Pontiac was rated lower in horsepower then the corvette of the same year? Also, what changes can be made to get same horsepower?

Re: LS1 horespower
Go to LS1tech.com. You can use the LS6 intake manifold to start. Headers better exhaust and a tune. Camshaft, spring kit and bigger injectors

We just bought a 99 vette (14k mile beauty) for the missus. I wasn't impressed when I read the LS1 5.7 under the hood was only rated at 345 hp but I'll tell you what- the car goes like a raped ape. I guess because its so light. Handles like a slot car too. Lots of fun.

Re: LS1 horespower
They're all the same. Corvette, Firebird, Camaro, just rated differently for marketing purposes.
Typically a bone stock LS1 was an honest 350 crankshaft HP. Typically put down 290-300 at the tires on most chassis dynos.
