'72 C10 Suburban - exhaust manifolds
What are my choices for stock (style) manifolds on my 2WD Suburban? My factory manifold cracked when I hit a large bump that broke two of my exhaust hangers.
I swapped in a Dorman replacement that looked almost identical to the factory piece. The Dorman manifold cracked at the collector I don't think I overtightened the collector. This did not happen until after a few heat cycles. One of the bolt holes just cracked off. I attached pics of the OE manifold and Dorman that cracked. I'd rather not put headers on my stock truck. Is there a non Chinese manifold available? Should I just try to find a used one? Should I try another Dorman? Jegs was great on the return, but I don't want to keep replacing this manifold. Here's a pic of my truck, just because it's gorgeous even when broken Thanks!

How about a picture of the entire manifold. Are you sure you don't have a broken motor mount and engine is bouncing around on that side? LockDoc

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check that out. I didn't notice anything else out of the ordinary, anything is possible. I don't have a pic of the manifold at the moment. It's broken at the bolt hole on the collector. The replacement that broke is a Dorman 326-674-199 - https://goo.gl/gVEpca (link to Jegs)

It looks to me like the first one crystalized from excessive heat and just fell apart. I'll look and see what I have. I don't remember having one with that angle on it but it has been a while since I looked at them..... LockDoc

I agree. You have a beautiful 'Burb Wayne!
I would try another Dorman or find another original. Speedway offers alternative ram horn manifolds but im not sure of the country of origin. Perhaps a Sanderson block hugger header?

That one was on the truck for about 50 miles Another member here that's local to me was nice enough to private message me and helped me find a pair of originals in very good condition that I purchased. Thanks again, Travis!

Thanks! I wouldn't have it if it wasn't for this forum. I purchased from a forum member 8-9 years ago. It's a great truck.

They were on the truck when I bought it. The passenger side can't be seen while driving but I like the symmetry

Re: '72 C10 Suburban - exhaust manifolds
Hey Malala..... I had the exact same mirrors on my 73 years ago..... I bought mine at a Good Guys car show.... any chrome vendor usually has them.. They clamp to the door frame with set screws... They were marketed as old school 40s 50s style car mirrors if I remember right

Re: '72 C10 Suburban - exhaust manifolds
I had set of those mirrors on my 72 when I bought it. Couldn't see anything out them, they scratched hell out of paint too. I threw them in the trash where they belonged. I guess you could say I didn't like them much! HA!
