Re: high hump low hump ??
yes low bump high humps are bolted on and are only on four wheel drive models ( unless you have a cab change or 2wd conversion on a 2wd )as it has a high hump

Re: high hump low hump ??
Weird, I've been into 73-87's since I was a wee pup and I've never seen this talked about. Whats the point on a high hump? I've fit sm465's, th350's, 200-4R's, muncie M20's and 700R4's in the "small humps" so I don't understand the need?

Re: high hump low hump ??
Low hump is 2wd auto and column shifted manual (M62 and M64 Saginaws).
High hump is everything else: 4wd or floor shifted manuals (SM465 or MY6 New Process - even 2wd). It's driven by the required clearance underneath. The requirements are much more conservative when you are accounting for the variation of building 1.5 million trucks vs building one truck. K

Re: high hump low hump ??
Stupid question, but why did they even make the variance then? Why not just make it all high jump?

Re: high hump low hump ??
My guess would be if you don't need a high hump for the transmission then you get a little more leg room for the middle passenger.

The reason I ask is because my 75 donor truck has a much nicer cab than my current 80 cab and Im thinking about swapping them. |

Re: high hump low hump ??
Ahhh I see. In that case my 78 is a high hump [factory 2wd/sm465/8pack leaf springs], and it is welded not bolted in. I've only had the sm465 and M20's in that truck. My 79 must have been small hump and that fit the th350 and 200-4R.

Re: high hump low hump ??
Some of my personal hump pictures for your enjoyment. Both doner were 4x4 automatic.
This one was a 74 C10 that I put a 5 speed into (Camaro T5) and required a high hump. This was a bolt in high hump. Simple sheet metal screw installation. This is the high hump from my latest C10, frame Z 2.5" and 6 speed (camaro T56) that required the high hump. As you can see this one does not have the bolt in option.

Re: high hump low hump ??
Would a high hump be required in a c10 for a 4.8/nv4500 I’m planning on installing?

Re: high hump low hump ??
Ditto what wraprail said. I have a TR6060 in my 86. I had to cut the hump out of an 85 donor truck to put in mine.
And sorry, I dont know the answer to your question IR2, if you need a high hump for your trans. Bubba |

Re: high hump low hump ??
i currently have a th400/np203 range box to offroad design doubler plate to np205 all under a stock 1987 c/r-10 2wd low hump floor sitting on a k30 frame with energy suspension body mounts and NO body lift .
the 3 shifter lever mounting bolt is dimpling the floor so i know where to open it up for the 3 shifter levers .
