who all is running a Valtrex 350?

Picked up this 98 Vortec 350 for $150 bucks...thought is would be goo inside but it is awesomely clean and tight...

Gonna rework the heads and throw a .495 intake/.503 exhaust Comp cam in it along with some other goodies...

I suppose the LS stuff is cool, but I still like a motor I can fool with without having to hook it up to a computer...kinda makes me think of those super realistic "companion" dolls they are sellin these days...

Anyway...who all is running one of these lumps of metal...let's see some pics and hear your advice and warnings...

No complaints from mine. Came out of a 99 suburban. Have the heads checked for cracks before you do anything to them.

No complaints on mine. Comp cam, headers. Not a true vortec, just the heads on a gen 1. Wouldn't do it again though, LS is much better performance, durability and cost effective. But hey, the PO just put it in there before I bought it.

Re: who all is running a Valtrex 350?

Let me pre-qualify this as an opinion...my opinion.

Vortec heads are the best off the shelf OEM replacement out there. Hard to lose. If I wasn't so far into the LS revolution at this point, I would still be using L31 take outs.

Re: who all is running a Valtrex 350?

If you're not aware, you should run a coolant bypass hose from the intake to the waterpump to keep some flow before the thermostat opens as the Vortec heads lack the internal bypass. Many say that the heater core serves this purpose as well, but I added one.
