Gear shifter

All- is there an easy way to fix the looseness in my auto column gear shifter? Just curious.

If your truck has the original and complete shifter linkage there are a couple of bushings that can be replaced to remove some of the slop. Here are a couple of pics (courtesy of this forum ) of what the OE linkage should look like. There is a rubber bushing at the top where the rod that attaches to the lower ear on the column too. Also you can remove the shift lever from the column in the cab and spray a lube into the column housing to loosen the shift tube and help it drop into the detents better.
