BBC headers for manual trans ???

I have a '69 Chevy with a BBC 396/TH-400 combo. I am changing to a TKO-500 or TKO-600 in the near future and will use the factory linkage. Is anyone running a factory 396/402 with a manual trans and factory linkage with a set of headers? Also, I have airbags so ground clearance is an issue.

I use to have a 4-speed/396/headers in my 4x4. I made a "U" shaped peice of 1/4 x 1 1/4 metal strap and welded it to the z-bar frame mount. shortened the z-bar to fit inside that. Dont know if anyone makes headers for a bbc/4speed combo that fits our trucks. My heddmans were supposed to fit manuels , but didnt.

To my knowledge, no such animal exists.

How about using some of the chevelle 3/4 length headers (which are for auto's only) & modify the drivers side to co-exist w/the z-bar & linkage? That would be cheaper than a set built from scratch. Or McCleod (sp?) makes a modular bellhousing that can adapt a hydraulic clutch set-up (& the T-56) possibly allowing the use of the automatic style headers w/o modifying.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

I am trying to stay away from a hydraulic clutch setup and the T-56. I have all the factory clutch linkage and am currently working with SpeedDirect on a rod end bearing linkage for big block applications. I know a few customers who are running Sanderson BB3 headers for automatic applications but they will not fit the manual linkage.

My Hooker Comps also fit in my truck without any clearance issues on the drivers side. I did have to do some frame and header mods for the passenger side.

Try the DYN86022 Dynamax ceramics, my customers seem very happy with the fit on manual trans trucks.
